Nancy D. Long: RN, BA, CCTC

Nancy Long brings more than four decades of clinical and transplant leadership experience to Guidry & East. Prior to joining the firm, she served nearly 42 years at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, where she retired as Director of CVOR and Transplant Administrator.
Throughout her career at Saint Luke’s, Nancy provided leadership for the heart, kidney, and liver transplant programs, transplant business operations, transplant quality, heart failure services, VAD and ECMO programs, and the cardiovascular operating rooms. Her clinical background includes experience as an operating room nurse, emergency department nurse, and heart transplant coordinator.
Nancy’s extensive program development expertise includes the expansion and optimization of transplant programs, transplant research databases, outreach initiatives, operational infrastructure, and the design and development of new cardiovascular operating rooms. Her work has consistently focused on improving operational efficiency, strengthening program quality, and supporting sustainable program growth.
A respected leader within the transplant community, Nancy has served in numerous national leadership roles and professional organizations, including ISHLT and AST. She has participated on multiple OPTN/UNOS committees and workgroups, including the Transplant Administrators Committee, Operations and Safety Committee, and the Ad Hoc Committee on International Affairs.
Nancy also served in multiple leadership capacities with the American Board for Transplant Certification, including President, and previously chaired the Transplant Leadership Council with The Alliance. In addition, she served as both a member and Chair of the Advisory Board for Midwest Transplant Network.
Nancy is a graduate of Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, and Ottawa University Kansas City. She has been a registered nurse for more than 45 years.
Her consulting work is centered on transplant operations, staffing strategy, workflow optimization, and quality outcomes. Nancy is especially passionate about supporting transplant teams and helping programs strengthen collaboration, efficiency, and patient care delivery.
After several years working with Guidry & East as an independent consultant, Nancy officially joined the firm as Principal/Partner in April 2018.
